Two Palestinians hit in the head by rubber-coated bullets at village gate, sources say

They were trying to cross the iron gate that has long sealed the road between Ras Karkar and Kharbatha Bani Harith, local sources told WAFA.

Israeli forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets at two Palestinians late on Tuesday as they tried to cross the iron gate separating the lands of Ras Karkar, west of Ramallah, from the neighbouring village of Kharbatha Bani Harith, hitting both in the head, local sources told WAFA. They were taken to Ramallah for treatment.

The sources said Israeli forces have kept the road between the two villages closed with the gate for a long time, barring vehicles and forcing residents to take detours or cross on foot.

‘He irrigated the tree with his blood’: olive farmers brace for a violent harvest

The National visits a Nablus-area grove where a father of four was killed by settlers on 7 October, and a family in Usarin still nursing its wounds.

In the hills around Nablus, a 59-year-old farmer showed The National the olive tree where his cousin, a 44-year-old father of four, bled to death after settlers attacked the family’s grove on 7 October. He said the attackers fired at them, beat them with metal and wooden objects and threw stones; eight people were hurt, two by gunfire.

Farther south in the village of Usarin, a 63-year-old woman described being beaten as she ran toward relatives ambushed by settlers in the grove beside their home. One of her sons was still in intensive care in Nablus with a severe brain injury, the paper reported.

The National says the trees are full this year after a poor 2025 crop, that at least two Palestinians have been killed by settlers since farmers began returning to their groves in late September, and that both attacks it documented took place in Areas A and B, where the Palestinian Authority has full or partial control.

a barbaric act and a dangerous escalation in settler terrorism

Rouhi Fattouh, President, Palestinian National Council (translated from Arabic)

Settlers set fire to mosque, car and olive tree in Mukhmas, governorate says

The attack came after midnight; the Israeli military said no suspects were identified and it had opened an investigation.

Israeli settlers entered Mukhmas, northeast of Jerusalem, after midnight and set fire to a mosque, an olive tree beside it and a car, which burned out completely, the Jerusalem Governorate said.

AFP footage showed the fire had burned the mosque’s carpeting and blackened its walls, and Hebrew graffiti was sprayed on its exterior. The Israeli military said soldiers were sent after reports of arson and graffiti, that no suspects were identified and that an investigation had been opened, AFP reported.

Palestinian National Council President Rouhi Fattouh condemned the attack and blamed international inaction for the continuing settler attacks, WAFA reported.

A group of settlers attacked olive pickers in the northeast of Turmus Ayya, north of Ramallah, on Wednesday morning and tried to stop the harvest, local sources told WAFA. Residents confronted them and forced them back toward the outpost settlers set up on the town’s plain.

According to WAFA, settlers established that outpost at the end of last year, and Israeli bulldozers uprooted more than 2,000 olive trees to open a road linking it to Shilo settlement, which is built on the town’s land.

More than 430 Jerusalem homes and structures demolished this year, researcher says

Fakhri Abu Diab told Voice of Palestine radio that 23,280 demolition orders are in force and that no more than 1% of Jerusalemites who applied this year got permits.

Israeli authorities have demolished more than 430 homes and other structures in occupied East Jerusalem since the start of 2026, Jerusalem affairs researcher Fakhri Abu Diab told Voice of Palestine radio. He said 23,280 administrative and judicial demolition orders are in force in the city.

Beit Hanina, al-Tur, Silwan and Jabal al-Mukabbir are among the most targeted neighbourhoods, Abu Diab said. He estimated that about 33 percent of Palestinian homes in Jerusalem are under threat of demolition and put the number demolished since 1967 at about 37,000.

Colombia opens embassy in Jerusalem; Palestinian ministry calls it a violation

Colombia is the tenth country with an embassy in the city, Reuters reported; Ramallah says the move breaches Security Council resolutions 476 and 478.

Colombia opened its embassy to Israel in Jerusalem on Wednesday at a ceremony attended by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar, making it the tenth country with an embassy in the city, Reuters reported. Former president Gustavo Petro broke off relations with Israel in May 2024; his successor, Abelardo de la Espriella, restored them, and a free trade agreement was reinstated on Tuesday.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the opening as a violation of international law and of Security Council resolutions 476 and 478, urged Bogotá to reverse it and called on states to take political, diplomatic, economic and legal steps against any country that opens or moves an embassy to Jerusalem.

Palestine’s envoy to the Arab League, Muhannad al-Aklouk, told Voice of Palestine radio that Arab states had decided to summon Colombia’s ambassadors and had asked members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to do the same.

Displaced Palestinian families are living in tents inside a cemetery in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, and covering them with nylon sheeting and tarpaulins to keep out rainwater, according to a WAFA video report.

WAFA said the families face harsh living conditions and have no safe shelter as winter approaches. Another WAFA video on Wednesday showed displaced people in a camp in central Gaza City tying down their worn tents with ropes.

The International Organization for Migration said on 9 October that almost 2 million people in Gaza need shelter assistance and that shelter partners’ supplies cover barely 17 percent of identified winter needs, according to Security Council Report.

Israeli forces and settlers carried out 21 attacks on farmers, their land and the olive crop in seven governorates between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said in an evening report: 12 by settlers, 8 by the army and one joint attack.

They included assaults, detentions, blocking the harvest, theft of olives and equipment, land razing and the uprooting and burning of trees, the commission said. In Beita, a farmer and a 17-year-old were beaten with clubs at Jabal Qmas; in Jinsafut, settlers smashed two electric olive-harvesting machines; in Idhna, troops and settlers forced farmers and activists off land threatened with seizure.

The commission said the targeting of the season undermines farmers’ ability to stay on and use their land, and called for their protection and for those responsible to be held to account.
